Glamour furs for Tonner's Marilyn Monroe doll

White Organza wrap, trimmed with Natural Blue Fox fur
Black Satin Crepe wrap, trimmed with White Fox fur
"Rose Beige" Sheared Beaver fur Coat
 Chinchilla fur Bolero
Pure White Mink Wrap

My latest "obsession"? Marilyn Monroe furs!
I've spent  a lot of time, studying Marilyn's  pictures, especially the ones she wore furs in.  She was stunning, the camera adored her, not one bad picture!  I had a lot of fun creating a doll fur collection inspired by the furs she wore.  I hope my furs, do her doll version justice:)

How did I get so lucky?  I work with some of the nicest people in the word, who own some of the most beautiful dolls I've seen! I feel honored that they choose to wear my furs. First picture, Ivory White Mink fur coat and hat. Second picture, Sears style inspired stole, made of Jet Black Mink fur.
Thanks dear client, for letting me use your pictures:)

Inspired by Spring!

It's still snowing where I live, and the temperatures are below freezing, but, the calendar says March, and I'm sure flowers are blossoming in many places in the world. I'll have to wait a couple of more months for flowers to blossom in my backyard, but in the meantime I'll have them blossom in my furs:)
Two of my latest creations: Short bolero jackets, sleeve stops above the elbow. Made of Sheared Mink, embellished with two tone, Handmade Mink flowers.  My two beauties, Bette and Sushi seem to be pretty pleased!  Happy Spring girls!

~TLC for Sears' Exclusive Mink Stole for Vintage Barbie~~

When I purchased the Sears Mink recently, the fur side was in great condition but the back side was in serious need of some TLC. And that's exactly what I gave it. I didn't use a pattern for the lining. Instead I hand folded and stitched by hand where it was needed following the curves of the stole.
The stole was sold exclusively by Sears in 1964-1965 for $9.99, and it was reduced to $7.99 at some point. It was the most expensive doll item of its time. Only a few were produced or sold, making it a rare and very expensive item today.

Flower-Power

When I'm bored I create fur flowers, and while creating them I envision the coat they'll go on. This OOAK jacket and hat are entirely made of sheared and full, Brown Cross Mink.

~Most Elaborate Cape~

Just finished my most elaborate fur ensemble. It took me almost a week and I worked a couple of hours per day, trying to put the pieces together in different ways. It started out as a capelet, then I thought, wouldn't it be nice if it had sleeves, how about a train? and a big collar, a hat , a muff? lol So I ended up with a long cape with a very long, rounded train. I'm very pleased with the results, and I think my Syb is happy too:)

~Syb Glamour~

I would love to play with dolls all day, but... life gets on the way... I have been busy with different things and haven't had time to keep up with my blog, but hopefully I will be doing some catching up now..
Sushi is one of my favorite dolls! She's the only Sybarite I own, she's so delicate that I was afraid to play with her at first. But I got over it fast! I love the way she poses and I dress her only in the most luxurious furs. Today, she's wearing Chinchilla!

~Cissy in Sapphire Mink~

Cissy in Sapphire (light silvery gray) Mink. Photo sent to me by a client/friend. I'm always pleasantly surprised to see how much better my furs look when worn by my clients' dolls. Some of these dolls are just drop dead gorgeous!

~Butterfly Wings~

I used to call this multi color sheared beaver, "Peacock", but a customer pointed out that it looks more like "Butterfly Wings". She was right, and that's what I call it since!

~SD Fantasma, in Brown Grooved Mink~

My Fantasma again, wearing a brown grooved mink coat with fox collar. I haven't seen her in a while, as she's still getting a face up, and I miss her... I wonder if I should still call her Fantasma after the face up...

~~The Lady is Certain-ly Stylish~~

"The Lady is Certain", Bette Davis, comes wearing a faux fur, over this elegant form fitting outfit. When I saw it I realized that my Cafe-au-Lait Mink has very similar shades to her faux mink, and I got to work right away! A customer asked for two tails hanging at the front and, voila! I have said this many times, but I'll say it again: my customers have the best ideas and are a true inspiration to me!

"Cafe-au-Lait" color has been achieved by taking mahogany brown mink and bleaching it.

~~Black Tibetan/Mohair Wig for Sushi~~

I love Mohair wigs! Not only are they fun to create, they're even more fun to play with! I can spend hours, just trying on different styles, and adding different embellishments!

~~Persian Lamb and Sable for Cissy~~

I have created this set for Cissy three or four times in the past, around the Holidays. I find it suits her style very well. I love creating little fur flowers, like the one on her hat.
The set is made of black persian lambe and natural sable.
